what is this? game name is a 16+ panfandom dreamwidth roleplaying game. It is a slight AU, but mostly Jamjar. Set squarely in the adventure genre, it's based on Norse Mythology. After passing away in their canons, characters find themselves in Freyja's field, Folkvangr. After being informed they've been chosen to join the ranks of Einherjar, they are allowed in Freyja's hall, Sessrúmnir, where they are expected to prepare together for Ragnarok. Training is conducted by the Shieldmaiden and Seeress Valkyries, who were, in fact, the ones who got you killed in the first place, on Freyja's order. Freyja takes who she pleases, so if anything about you appealed to her, well, welcome to the ranks of Einherjar. The only hitch, so far, is that Freyja's got the girls, whereas Odin's got the boys. the game is women only? Yes. Freyja and Odin made an agreement that they would separate the warriors and train them in groups of men and women. The game takes place in Freyja's realm of Folkvangr, not Odin's realm of Valhalla. how is romance handled then? The Valkyries don't seem bothered by it. Taking a wife is pretty normal for them. That said, in addition to being a war Goddess, Freyja's also the Goddess of Love and Fertility, so she doesn't really mind a little love on the battlefield. Or a lot, if that's how your boat floats. is this a romance game? No. It is projected to work plenty of genres into the game, but it is largely a fantasy adventure game. am i dead? Sure are! Sorry about your newly discovered deadness. Why not use it to fight during Ragnarok? Maybe you'll survive and get promoted to Valkyrie, or Demigod, or sent back home once the Earth is reborn! No promises, though. how are characters chosen? Freyja is relatively indiscriminate and will take just about anyone she thinks can bring something to the plate. Anything that can be spun as a strength would appeal to her; for example, a character is a good conversationalist would be chosen in case of need for negotiation. what is this about a sorting system? When you accept the Valkyrie's offer and join the rest of the cast in Sessrúmnir, you will begin training. Each character will either train to become a Shieldmaiden or a Seeress. what are shieldmaidens and seeresses? Shieldmaidens are physical warriors. They are warriors in their own right, with skills that are equal to a traditionally male warrior. Seeresses are versed in magic and use their spells healing or protection. They can also be trained to use their magic for offense. Characters will be chosen as either a training Shieldmaiden or a training Seeress, with Shieldmaidens being those more suited to physical battle and Seeresses as support and/or healers. my character has magical abilities in her canon! how do you handle this? Canon powers are altered to better fit her role. For example, Rei Hino (Sailor Mars) could excel as a Shieldmaiden who specializes in archery, due to her Flame Sniper attack. In fact, you could use Flame Sniper in game, if you wanted to. my character isn't a fighter in her canon... That's not a problem. Each character will be given a role to fulfill; perhaps she isn't a fighter, but she is intelligent and can do her research. She'd be expected to work as a strategist, then. Don't worry too much, though, she'll be taught to be able to defend herself, as well. can i app marvel's Loki/Thor/Hel/etc? Heathen Gods and Goddesses are major players in the plot of the game, so we do not allow any characters who are or are based on them into the game. can i app a genderbent version of a male character? No. Your character must be a women in her canon. can i app a trans woman? Of course. Plenty of the Valkyries themselves are what humans would call transgender, in fact. how are applications judged here? Mira i dont know what to put here. bye my application was accepted! now what? Follow the instructions in your acceptance letter, Harry Potter. You're a wizard now. More explicitly, you'll be given a rundown of what's happened to your character when they arrive, and then be expected to fill out the information asked for you and check in at the required pages. what does happen when my character arrives? They're given way too much information way too fast, lead to the seating room and then expected to wait for the rest of the new recruits. Once new recuits are gathered, the mingle log will go up. Empty seats are cleared and the dwarfs file in. Characters will be asked to fill out a questionnaire that will help the dwarfs forge a custom weapon for characters. my application was declined. what now? If your app was declined, we would like you to wait one app round before applying again, if you so choose. A declined application will not hinder any decisions regarding any previous apps, or future apps. You may apply for that same character three times before you will be asked not to apply for that character again. i want to drop my character. Characters who are dropped are assumed to left Folkvangr without permission and thus are listed as Killed In Action. i want to re-app my character! That's cool. It's easy enough to say they just came back from wherever they went, but as per Freyja's rules, they'll be punished for going against her orders. how are hiatuses handled? Characters who are placed on hiatus are placed into intensive training with a Valkyrie who is chosen at random. Intensive training can go on for days, weeks, or even months -- not that you'd be able to tell. If you're not into the intensive training, though, they can go on auto-pilot. is there an age limit? Due to content, we do not allow anyone under the age of sixteen into ( game name ). when, where and how often are apps? Mira i dont think we talked about this yet what is ac like? Same as above what does the map look like? Please refer to the locations page for a more detailed answer to this. However, the map is medium-sized. When not in one of the world Nine Worlds, the game will take place in Folkvangr, and Sessrúmnir. the game won't only take place in Folkvangr, then? No. You'll be making trips to the other worlds to fulfill missions, gather clues regarding Ragnarok's completion, and familiarize yourself with the Nine Worlds. That said, the game will only take place in one world at a time, and still be largely based in Folkvangr. what's being done about housing? Sessrúmnir recently had some of the seats taken out to make room for a dormitory. Please refer to the housing post for more information on the dorms. what else is in Sessrúmnir? Training grounds, the seating room, a dining hall, dorms, and a very big, very old, very dusty library that is a complete mess. Again, the locations page has more info on this. how does communication work in game? There is no game-wide communication device. Most interaction is expected to be done face to face. If you need to send a private note to someone, the forest animals in the fields of Folkvangr can be bargained with either in the form of food or shiny things that catch their interest. No promises they're actually good at delivering, though. what else can i do in game aside from train? Research. Form bonds. Better yourself. If you're that desperate for entertainment, Freyja might consider doing something about it. No promises it won't be a big screen that constantly plays really bad romantic comedies, though. There is a distinct focus on characters working together. After all, if you want to survive Ragnarok, you'll need to make up for your weaknesses. Someone else could do that for you, and you could make up for their weaknesses, too. There's enough books in the library with enough information for you to come up with things to do in the Nine Worlds on your own, too. There's an abundance of things to do, just don't expect Freyja or the Valkyries to lay them out for you. Of course, the other Aesir are a bit of a different story... if you're willing to trust them. what are the Aesir and Asunjur like anyway? Each of the Gods and Goddesses have their own personality and domain. Each one is also to be trusted to varying degrees. The npc cast page answers this in depth. what are the Valkyries like? The Valkyries are brutal, mean, gruesome and trustworthy. Though difficult to get along with, their goal is to train you and make sure you are a warrior fit to fight in Ragnarok. They do their best in regard, but no one will blame you if you find them unpleasant. They don't care if you live or die, and any Valkyrie who doesn't double up as a Shieldmaiden or Seeress is probably not going to interact with you much, anyway. As above, this question is likely answered best by the npc cast page. are there any other npcs? There are plenty, like the dwarfs or giants. However, they're in their realm most of the time, so you don't need to worry about them too much. so about time... ICly, characters don't really feel time pass. Different rooms have different 'times', so to speak, for ambiance. It may feel like days before the moon comes out on Folkvangr. Time moves as Freyja wants it to on Folkvangr, and it might as well be at a standstill in Sessrúmnir. Time is a little less linear in the other realms, though we don't urge you to try to figure out how it works for your own stress levels. speaking of time, how does death work here? It doesn't. You're already dead, so at this point, the only thing left is for your soul to die, too. That aside, you can't die under Freyja's protection. Under Freyja's protection, you are not allowed to die. A character who finds herself near death will be removed from the field and placed immediately in the Healing Room where she will be worked on immediately. Freyja's protection is with you as long as she knows where you are. Leaving Folkvangr without her knowledge results in one being removed from her protection, so undertaking a secret mission, if you so choose to accept it, is the only way to actually die in game. Freyja can't resurrect you at that point. Your soul may be sent to Hel and anyone who joins Hel's army of Undead... well, no one's been heard from after that, so no one quite knows what happens at that point. my character killed another player character! Punishment is dealt accordingly, don't worry. okay, but i really wanna kill my character. Rules are rules. Freyja doesn't want any deaths on her watch. Either escape Folkvangr, in which case, you may find yourself being punished if you return. Or...don't die. what is Loki doing? Please stop encouraging him. my question wasn't answered here! Let us know in the comments below and we'll get back to you, asap! |
